What is an Orthopedic Surgeon?
Orthopedic surgeons treat a number of conditions that affect the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves (for example, arthritis in the joints and arthrosis, or joint surgeries in the foot). However, surgery is only a small part of orthopedic work. It is more critical to make an assessment of the right care; whether surgical treatment is appropriate or whether any other measure might be needed. Typical orthopedic ailments are prolonged joint pain, trauma injuries and their reoccurrence. The most common types of patients discomfort are backs, arthritis (e.g. hip and knee) and patients with various types of pain in the foot.
Orthopedic activities in Medivital Clinic
I am a member of the Medical Association of Malaga and have a liability insurance of the Union.
My practice involves a nurse unless the patient does not want to. We will do a mapping of the patient's problem and provide guidance on self-care in agreement with the patient. If necessary, we will provide you with a referral (x-rays and / or magnetic resonance imaging), guide you to treatments (eg physiotherapy and osteopathy) and give you a prescription for medication. At my practice we can make various joint injections to treat pain and swelling. We also have the ability to make ultrasound-guided hip injections. The implementation of surgical treatment is still based in Finland but in the future we are planning to start surgeries also in Spain.
